1. Workshop on IMNCI: Reducing Infant and Child Mortality rates and improving child survival are important goals of National Programmes of India. Among them Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illness is one strategy which includes both preventive and curative interventions that aim to improve common Neonatal & Child Hood Problems.
Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences with support from World Health Organization and UNICFF conducted second TOT (Training programme for Trainees) workshop on pre service Integrated Management of Neonatal & Childhood Illness and IYCF for Medical and Nursing faculty in Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad from 12 th March to 19 th March.
2. Annual Convocation: 16 th Annual Convocation of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences was held on 02.05.2012 at Vijayawada. Dr. Vishwa Mohan Katoch, Secretary to Government of India, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research was the Chief Guest and he was awarded Doctor of Science. Dr. Katoch's some of the important contributions are-Development of Molecular methods of Rapid diagnosis of TB, Leprosy, DNA chips; DNA fingerprinting methods. Viability determination methods like ATP bioluminescence etc. and has contributed 251 National/International research papers. Out of 6162 Degrees 52 candidates were conferred various degrees in person which include 5 from super specialty and 5 from Post Graduate Degrees in Modern Medicine.
3. Ph.D: The new regulations for Ph.D courses for the year 2012-2013 are being introduced regarding recognition of guides and centres for Ph.D programmes.
4. Post Doctoral Fellowship and certificate courses are going to be introduced in the University shortly.
5. PG counseling for admissions for the year 2012-2013 was held in two phases in the months of April, May 2012 and nearly 1700 seats were filled up in the convener quota.
